Hyundai has finally launched the Elite i20 CVT Automatic in India, it also comes with a a new 1.2 petrol engine replacing the 1.4-litre dual VTVT 4-speed AT powertrain. The new 1.2-litre petrol unit produces 83 hp of power and 115 Nm of torque.

CVT is available on two variants – Magna and Asta. Magna CVT is priced at Rs 7.04 Lakhs and Asta CVT is priced at Rs 8.16 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

The i20 CVT will be targeted at those seeking a refined, comfortable city car. CVT automatic gearboxes are known for their smoothness, allowing seamless and refined shift progress. They’re nearly jerk-free, and save for the rubberband effect that becomes prominent when the accelerator pedal is mashed.

Besides the introduction of the CVT automatic, there are no other changes on these variants. In terms of styling and the interior, the Magna and Asta CVT variants are identical to the Magna and Asta MT grades and offer more or less the same features and equipments .

The 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 CVT rivals the Maruti Baleno (Rs 7.10-8.41 lakh) and the Honda Jazz ( Rs 7.71-8.47 ) both of which come with a CVT transmission mated to a 1.2-litre petrol engine .At this price point, the i20 CVT undercuts both its competitors.
